Auli Tour Package from Gandhinagar: Itinerary, Yoga Express & Flight Routes, and Gujarati Family Guide

🏔️ 6N/7D | Rishikesh – Pipalkoti – Auli – Haridwar | 🚗 Pickup: Haridwar Jn, Yog Nagari Rishikesh, Jolly Grant Airport

Planned and reviewed by Govind Bisht, Operations, SnazzyTrips | Last updated: 27 October 2026

Gandhinagar is better connected to Auli than most people realise. The daily Yoga Express stops at Gandhinagar Capital station and runs straight to Haridwar and Rishikesh, arriving late the next morning. If you prefer to fly, IndiGo’s non-stop Ahmedabad–Dehradun flight takes under two hours, and Ahmedabad airport is a short drive from the capital. Either way, you reach Uttarakhand in daylight with time to spare.

That daylight arrival shaped this itinerary. Day 1 is a relaxed afternoon in Rishikesh. Day 2 takes you deep into the Alaknanda valley to Pipalkoti, a quiet town about 50 km below Auli, so you reach the slopes on Day 3 morning with almost a full day ahead. Three nights in Auli give you the slopes, Gorson Bugyal and a flexible third day. The last night is in Haridwar, timed so you can see a morning aarti and still catch the afternoon Yoga Express home.

SnazzyTrips is a local Uttarakhand-based DMC operating since 2003, with teams in Haldwani and Dehradun. You can compare durations across all Auli itineraries.

✅ Quick Answer: The SnazzyTrips Auli tour package from Gandhinagar is a 6N/7D trip starting at ₹32,499 per couple (Standard tier). Travellers board the daily Yoga Express at Gandhinagar Capital or fly non-stop from Ahmedabad to Dehradun. The route covers Rishikesh, a Pipalkoti halt, three nights in Auli and Haridwar. Trains and flights are not included.

🚆 Getting There from Gandhinagar

Train from your own station, or a short flight

✅ Quick Answer: The easiest option is the daily 19031 Yoga Express, which stops at Gandhinagar Capital around midday and reaches Haridwar at about 11:20 AM the next day. The fastest option is IndiGo’s non-stop Ahmedabad–Dehradun flight, about 1 hour 45 minutes. Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is roughly 20 km from Gandhinagar.

🚆 Yoga Express from Gandhinagar Capital

The 19031 Yoga Express starts at Sabarmati BG around 11:25 AM, stops at Gandhinagar Capital around 11:52 AM, and runs daily via Delhi to Haridwar (about 11:20 AM next day) and Yog Nagari Rishikesh (about 12:25 PM). It has sleeper, 3AC, 2AC and 1AC classes. The return 19032 leaves Yog Nagari Rishikesh at 2:55 PM and Haridwar around 4 PM.

✈️ Non-stop Flight from Ahmedabad

IndiGo operates a non-stop Ahmedabad–Dehradun flight. The current schedule has an early-morning departure landing in Dehradun around 8 AM, but timings change by season, so check before booking. One-stop flights via Delhi are a backup.

🚉 Which Station to Get Off At

Get off at Haridwar if you want to see Har Ki Pauri first, or stay on to Yog Nagari Rishikesh, which is closer to our Day 1 hotel. To spend more time by the Ganga, see our Rishikesh itineraries.

🏞️ Why We Stop at Pipalkoti

The reasoning behind the halt

✅ Quick Answer: Pipalkoti sits on the Badrinath highway about 50 km below Auli, at roughly 1,260 m. Stopping there means Day 2 ends before dark and Day 3 starts with only a short drive, so you reach Auli by late morning with a full day ahead. It also eases the jump in altitude for travellers coming from Gujarat’s plains.
  • Shorter Day 3: About 1.5–2 hours to Auli instead of 9–10 hours from Rishikesh.
  • Better first day in Auli: You arrive fresh, not after dark.
  • Gentler altitude gain: A mid-height night before 2,800 m.
  • Road buffer: If there’s a hold-up on NH7, you’re already most of the way up.
💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: Most Auli itineraries drive straight from Rishikesh and arrive at dusk. Splitting the climb at Pipalkoti effectively gives you an extra half-day in Auli without adding a night there.

⚖️ Auli vs Shimla–Kufri: Which Should Gandhinagar Travellers Choose?

The familiar snow trip vs the quieter one

✅ Quick Answer: Shimla and nearby Kufri are the classic Gujarati snow trip, with easy access and plenty of shopping, but they get very crowded in snow season and traffic jams are common. Auli is higher, quieter and has proper ski slopes with views of Nanda Devi. If you’ve done Shimla before or want a calmer trip, Auli is the better pick.
Factor Auli Shimla–Kufri
Direct train from Gandhinagar Yes, Yoga Express to Haridwar/Rishikesh No; change at Delhi or Kalka
Snow-area altitude Approx. 2,500–3,050 m Kufri approx. 2,500–2,700 m
Crowds in snow season Moderate Heavy
Skiing Proper slopes, lessons in season Limited snow activities
Peak views Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dronagiri Distant ranges
Shopping and nightlife Minimal Mall Road and markets
Pilgrimage add-on Haridwar, Rishikesh, Badrinath (seasonal) Limited
Best for Calm snow trip, nature, skiing First-timers who want a busy town
🧳 Tip for Gandhinagar travellers: If your family has already done the Shimla–Manali circuit, Auli gives you a completely different Himalayan experience: fewer crowds, real ski slopes and a Ganga pilgrimage on both ends.

❄️ Seasons and Gujarat Holidays

When to go

✅ Quick Answer: Visit between late December and February for snow and skiing, and between May and June to escape Gujarat’s summer heat with green meadows in Auli. September to November offers clear peaks and fits the long Diwali vacation. Avoid July and August because of monsoon landslides. Snowfall in Auli is never guaranteed.
Months What Auli Offers Gujarat Holiday Match
Late Dec – Feb Snow likely, ski season Year-end leave; after Uttarayan in mid-January
Mar – Apr Thaw, quiet slopes –
May – Jun Green slopes, cool days Summer vacation
Jul – Aug Heavy rain, road risk Avoid
Sep – Nov Clear skies, cold nights Diwali vacation
💡 SnazzyTrips Insight: The Yoga Express fills up fast during the Diwali and summer vacations. Booking your train 60–90 days ahead matters more than booking hotels early. For more cold-season trips, browse our winter tours in Uttarakhand’s snow belt.

🥾 Is Auli Hard? Fitness, Altitude and Kids

An honest look at effort

✅ Quick Answer: Auli is easy to moderate for most families. Day 2 and Day 6 are long drives, but walking in Auli is light unless you choose Gorson Bugyal. The Pipalkoti halt helps with altitude, and most children above about 4 and active seniors manage well. Anyone with heart or lung conditions should consult a doctor first.
  • Walking: Easy slope walks; Gorson Bugyal is about 3 km each way.
  • Altitude: Mild breathlessness on Day 3 is normal; it usually settles by evening.
  • Children: Pack extra warm layers; kids feel cold faster on snow.
  • Seniors: The chairlift (when running) and hotel-side slopes reduce walking.
  • Weather: Gujarat rarely sees freezing temperatures; Auli January nights go well below zero.
  • Safety: We check NH7 status every morning before driving.

💰 Budget Breakdown: Couple vs Family of Four

What the whole trip costs

✅ Quick Answer: For two people, an Auli trip from Gandhinagar costs roughly ₹35,000–40,000 by Yoga Express with the Standard tier, or about ₹52,500–80,500 by flight. For a family of four in two rooms, double those figures. The package price of ₹32,499 per couple covers everything from pickup to drop; trains and flights are extra.

🍛 Food on the Route: Vegetarian and Jain Travellers

Eating well from Rishikesh to Auli

✅ Quick Answer: Vegetarian food is easy throughout this route, and Haridwar and Rishikesh are vegetarian towns with many pure-veg restaurants. Jain meals (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) are widely available in Haridwar and Rishikesh, but in Pipalkoti and Auli hotels need advance notice. We inform every hotel of your food preferences when we book.
Stop Vegetarian Jain on Request Notes
Rishikesh Easy Usually available Many pure-veg cafés and bhojanalayas
Pipalkoti Simple dal-rice-sabzi With advance notice Small town, limited options
Auli Hotel kitchens With advance notice Few restaurants outside hotels
Haridwar Easy Widely available Vegetarian town
🧳 Tip for Gandhinagar travellers: Carry some dry snacks like thepla, khakhra or fafda for the train and the long drive days. Roadside options between Rudraprayag and Joshimath are basic.
