Instead of spending Day 1 resting in the plains, you head straight into the hills to Gauchar, a riverside town between Rudraprayag and Karnaprayag. That puts Auli only four hours away on Day 2, so you reach the slopes by lunchtime and get three nights there. We use it to drive 160 km into the hills to Gauchar, then reach Auli in time for lunch the next day.
